Travis Sharpe - Founder/ Director Travis and his wife April are missionaries to the homeless in America. They have two children, Hunter and Sarah. Garden City Rescue Mission was started under the leadership of Brother Travis in April of 2001 and he continues to serve as the executive director today. Travis and his family travel to churches all over where he preaches and raises awareness of the homeless problem in our country.
Lavond Reynolds - Assistant Director/Guest Services Director Lavond came to the mission in November of 2003 in need of a place to stay. He was terminated from the Army after nearly 19 years of service and saw himself fighting a case that still is unsettled. He was saved when he got here. He became active on the volunteer team and got his call to preach while staying at the mission. He's a trustee at his church and teaches in the Richmond County School System. Lavond helps with keeping records of guest and assuring that needs of the guest are met.
Suzie Greene - In May of 2001 Suzie was here attending the annual camp meeting of Victory Baptist Church. After service one morning , Suzie came to the mission. While looking around in the lobby area God told her that this is where He wanted her. At this time there was only a men's division and Suzie wanted to work with children so her reply was that there were no children here. Once again God spoke and said the children will come. In November of 2005 I left my job and moved from Florida to do what God called me to do. On January 9,2007 The Women & Children's Division was opened and as always God is true to his word, ‘THE CHILDREN DID COME”
Scott Simet -
Scott came to the mission as a guest in 2004. He was saved in 2001, but had not turned his life fully over to the Lord. Adter volunteering at the mission for several months, the Lord called Scott to help Travis in ministering to the homeless population of Augusta.
Amy Reese -
Assistant to the Director Amy and her husband Mike are faithful members of Victory Baptist Church. Amy has been involved here at the mission for about two years as a volunteer helping out wherever needed. She started serving in a full time capacity in March 2008 as our bookkeeper and helping Brother Travis in the office.
Ray Greene - Ray is Brother Travis's step dad and one of the most valuable staff members ever to come to the Mission . He made his living as a body man and has extensive knowledge in most all areas of handyman work. It took a giant step of faith for Ray to move from Florida at age 69 (in 2005) to work at the Mission . Everyone here knows him by his nickname of “Ergie”. He works as the maintenance man and fixes everything from broken doors and toilets to just about everything else that needs fixing. We are blessed to have “Ergie” here as part of our staff.
